Before your student starts

Tell Sconce about your student.

This pre-loads the coach with context so your student isn't explaining themselves from scratch. About ten minutes. Nothing here is permanent — we can adjust anything later.

If there are two parents, we'd appreciate each of you filling this out separately.

Sconce uses AI.
Your student will be chatting with an AI coach, not a human. The AI is built on Anthropic's Claude and runs under our supervision. You'll have a parent dashboard to see what's happening and can pause or remove the account anytime.

About you

So we know who's filling this out and how to reach you.

Please add your name.

About your student

We need your student's first name.
Grade helps us calibrate tone.
If you'd like the coach to send your student SMS reminders and check-ins, enter their mobile number. Leave blank if you don't want SMS coaching. You can add it later.
Use a US mobile number, e.g. +1 240 555 0123.
The Google account your student uses for school — Google Classroom, school email, or their school login. Sconce uses it to connect their calendar. Not sure? Leave blank — we'll sort it out during setup.
That doesn't look like an email address.
Where your student actually reads email. Often the same as the Google account above — if so, enter it in both. Leave blank if they don't use email yet.

School

Just the basics — we'll figure out technical details together during setup.

School name, please.
A public link to your school's calendar of closures and holidays. On the school website, look for “Calendar,” “Subscribe,” or “iCal feed.” Sconce uses this so the coach knows when school is closed and won't push schoolwork on a day off. If you can't find it, leave blank — you can add it later.
Check all that apply.
Does your student have their own login? Do you have one too?
At home, school, anywhere. Check all that apply.
Be specific — this helps us figure out what will work for your family.
A sentence or two is plenty.

Daily life

Sconce helps students find good times to work. The more we know about the shape of their day, the better.

Right after school, after dinner, all over the place — whatever the reality is.
Sports, music lessons, tutoring. Days and times if you know them.
e.g. a shared "Kahn family" calendar everyone sees.
Todoist, Apple Reminders, paper planner, nothing — all fine.

What are you hoping for?

No wrong answers. This helps us understand what matters most to your family.

Missing assignments, procrastination, time management, getting started, organization — anything.
One or two sentences is enough.
IEP/504, shared custody, strong subjects, things that have or haven't worked — whatever feels relevant.
